Bernard Purinton manufactured hand painted pottery from 1939-1959 in both East Liverpool, in Wellsville, Ohio. Their hand painted wares were comparable in quality and beauty to that of contemporaries like Stangl, Blue Ridge, Redwing or Pennsbury. After Purinton closed, Watt took over in 1965. William Blair designed the APPLE pattern, called d-46, then and now the most favorite pattern. Blair left the company to start his own business in the Ozarks, Missouri in 1943.
Bowl is in excellent vintage condition! Does have a tiny ding on rim edge and a few tiny fleabites to rim as well, but does not effect use. The usual pre-loved light surface wear here and there
from years of Madge storing these beauties on the counter, but nothing that distracts from this beautiful set of kitchen history. A few glaze pops here and there done during manufacturing, but also do not distract and add to it's charm. See enlarged pics for best description and details.
