Purinton Slipware, Shippenville, Pennsylvania. Open Apple hand painted pattern.Individual teapot is 6 inches tall.
In Very good condition with a small chip on the inner lip of the pot itself that is only visible when cover is removed. The Purinton Pottery Company was incorporated in Wellsville, Ohio, in 1936. The company moved to Shippenville, Pennsylvania, in 1941 and made a variety of hand-painted ceramic wares. By the 1950s Purinton was making dinnerware, souvenirs, cookie jars, and florist wares. One of Purinton Pottery Company's most famous pieces is the Howdy Doody cookie jar. The pottery company closed in 1959.
