    Description

Vintage Hand Painted Wood WELCOME Sign – Beautiful Water Landscape Scene with white SWANS
0.00 including free Parcel Select shipping
All of the art work and collectibles being sold by Adams-Byrd Fine Art & Antiques have been collected and selected one at a time by the proprietor, an art historian with many years of training and experience in university art history departments, museums, galleries, and historic sites both in the U.S. and abroad.  The business has been based in the Washington, D.C. area for many years.  The art and collectibles that we are offering to eBay buyers are special and unique pieces that have been carefully “curated” by us.
This beautiful American folk art sign features a lovely landscape on the oval wood plaque.
The artist has hand painted a scene with two swans in the water.
Each has a wreath of greenery and flowers around its neck – and the scene is framed with green plants / grass.
The beautiful white swans (with rosy cheeks) are in profile facing one another on the water.
The left swan’s eye is closed; the right swan’s eye is open.
The cheerful and smiling sun up in the clouds looks like a beautiful yellow flower.
The sun appears to be winking --- one eye is open and the other is shut.
(Note that the sun and both swans have beautiful eyelashes!)
The yellow rays of light shine through the white and blue clouds.
“Welcome” is in black along the lower edge of this solid wood sign.
The artist did not sign or date the painting.
It looks to us like it might be from the 1970s / 1980s.
    The sign is 14 5/8“ x 9 3/4“ x
    under 5/8“.
It is in good used / pre-owned condition.
If you examine it very closely, you can find very minimal marks / rubs from age / handling / wear.
Along the top edge there is some white paint ---- it looks like someone accidentally got paint on the blue edge when they were painting a wall (without removing the sign).
We have never attempted to “clean” the sign since we did not want to damage the original painting.
The paint colors include blue, green, yellow, white, red, pink and black.
There is a hole drilled on the back for hanging it from a nail.
We would recommend that you attach a zigzag metal hook
--- or two eye screws and a wire --- to hang it securely.
If you appreciate the beauty and authenticity of hand painted folk art crafts, this wonderful white swans welcome sign is a great collectible.
This sunny original painting is perfect for a swan collector --- or for someone who is lucky enough to have swans on the water near their home!
This is a beautifully and expertly done painting.
This was obviously done by a very skilled and talented artist.
Perhaps someone who knows the artist and/or has collected the artist’s work will be able to provide a name for this “anonymous” work of art!
All items we sell are from a pet free and smoke free environment – unless prior owner history is noted above.
