    IN THIS ISSUE (

Are you as mesmerized by the tiny food videos as I am? The Japanese “Kawaii” (cute) culture has expanded to professionally produced videos of tiny stoves and tiny food being lovingly prepared and presented for your enjoyment. First seen on youtube channels like “Pocket Cooking”, and “Miniature Space”, the videos take you through the full cooking and baking processes of making a strawberry shortcake (viewed 3.8 million times) or a stack of tiny pancakes. There is something pleasant and calming about these videos. Particularly for those of us who already appreciate the art of the small scale item, these videos seem to support our own love of the tiny details that make art in a miniature universe. After all, haute cuisine can be just as enticing as haute couture!
It was this trend that inspired this issue. We are not showing you actual food for consumption, but for the enjoyment of your own collection. Food to be shown with your dolls and beloved dream houses, furniture and kitchen sets. Our featured artist is Dawn Anderson of OneSixthSense, whose work is meticulous and so rich with detail, you really have to look twice to be sure you are not looking at the real thing.
Where there is food, there is a kitchen! So, we are lucky to have Paul Bruce as a contributor. He shares his delightful Reading kitchen pieces (a grail of mine) in this issue, along with his fun fashions for vintage Barbie and friends. KimLondon takes the JamieShow boys out on the town for drinks, dining, Instagramming and cooking with friends, while Ernesto Padró-Campos lets saucy minxes go wild in his kitchen sets, courtesy of Julian Kalinowski’s new S-Girls. Ian Price presents a cheeky portfolio featuring your favorite dolls with food and recipes, too! I wrap it all up with a look at some of our favorite food props and where to find them, whether they are still in production, or secondary market from old favorites like Blumington’s.
It’s not just food to whet your appetite in this issue. We have Toy Fair coverage (Tonner, Mattel and Alexander Doll Co.) and Dolpa wrap-up, along with updates on Anouk, Nigel Chia, Kingdom Doll, PidginDoll and the Lovetones. We also cover the debut One of A Kind Doll Festival held right here in NYC, on Broadway! It’s not often doll folk convene in the Big Apple. Not only did they have a great time creating their own dolls and sharing the delighful creations of special hosts Magia2000 and NiniMomo, they saw “Hamilton”! Now, that is incentive to get off the computer and get back out into the world of doll collecting! Even if you couldn’t be there, we have the recap here. There is something for every scale, and every taste in this issue. We hope you eat it all up!
