Description
In the 2000’s, I collected just a few pieces of vintage Purinton pottery because I liked the colors. Some of my pieces are signed. This one is NOT. Because of the lack of signing, I can’t guarantee whether it’s authentic or not, but it displayed perfectly with my other pieces.
Please check back as I list more of my Purinton, Fenton, Blenko, Westmoreland, Boyd and other collectibles. I’m not particularly knowledgeable on any of my personal collectibles, having bought them simply because I found them lovely at the time. As they say, I do know enough to be dangerous! :-)
- The piece is either actual Purinton or is made in the style of Purinton.
- It’s classified as a teapot. I suppose it could also be used as a creamer or as a vase without the lid. Personally, I only ever used it for display as one of “my pretties.”
- Cream background with red floral, green leaves, and brown stems and flourishes. Please note that colors may appear different in different lighting and on different screens.
- Holds about 4 cups.
- Approximately 4.5” tall from base to opening. With the lid it’s roughly 6” tall. The rounded base is around 5” in diameter, and the teapot is 7.5” measuring from end of spout to edge of handle.
*** PLEASE note the dark crazing marks in one area of the bottom interior. I hadn’t noticed that until listing it.
*** PLEASE also note the cracks in the glaze of the lid and around the rim of the teapot. I’ve lowered the price accordingly. This no doubt came many years ago from normal use since the lid doesn’t fit tightly at all, or it may have come from jostling during our cross-state move 11 years ago.
- There are a few stray paint marks beneath the glaze as well as some dimpling at the side of the spout.
- Some imperfections and bumpiness are seen due to the handmade character of this pottery. Examine photos carefully. For example, the lid is not perfectly circular. However, I don’t see chipping, just glaze crackling and crazing.
- May be 70-80 years old. Purinton stopped production around 1959 so this probably dates from the 1940’s or 1950’s, if it’s authentic.
- This has been stored in my farm barn until listing, and I’ve washed it in warm, soapy water to remove most of the dust.
Payment:
Please submit payment within 3 days. Only US bids are honored.
Shipping:
I’ll wrap both parts of the teapot in lots of bubble wrap and package them in a corrugated box to avoid further crackling in the glaze. Cost to ship by Priority Mail will be .40.
*** Please note that my home is smoke-free but very pet-friendly. My Purinton collection was stored in my farm barn until I began listing it. A strand or two of friendly dog, cat, or horse fur may sneak into your package!
