beautiful kitchen accessory or a joy to use at any festive occasionLarge Open Apple
Dutch Style Slipware Pitcher
from Purinton Pottery
beautiful condition to please hostess and collector
Offered here today for your enjoyment and consideration is this large ice lip pitcher from the Apple pattern by famed US maker Purinton Pottery of Shippensville, Pennsylvania. Produced between the years of about 1940 and 1959 Purinton's Apple line was also referred to by some as Open Apple. It's from a family of wares made by Purinton that were generally known as slipware. Our jug features hand applied decoration depicting the open apple design in colors of deep red, green, teal, and brown. It's a large and showy item
standing
about 7" tall and measuring over 10" across handle and spout. Its form is highly stylized and reminiscent of other pottery of the mid Twentieth Century. Purinton called this the Dutch shape. Bottom marking includes the Purinton trademark and the word "slipware".
You'll find this item to be in very good, vintage, presumably used condition. It's fully damage free suffering no chips or cracks. We detected no crazing of glaze, no stain, and no discoloration. Likewise the piece is free from hard water deposits. Applied
decoration
is bright, crisp, and fresh in appearance with strong color. Surface wear is minimal and is generally
limited
to the expected light scuffing of the exterior bottom. On close examination you're likely to note some glaze runs and drips that are often found on large pieces of production pottery such as this. All in all it's a great looking item that presents beautifully. We feel like the decorator in you will love it as a fine, period kitchen
accessory
while your inner hostess will be yearning to use it again and again at all your festive occasions.

Because most, if not all of the goods we offer are vintage, antique, and have likely been used you should expect them to exhibit the typical and expected signs of age and prior use. We’ll do our best to describe condition and make mention of any significant or noticeable wear, but we ask that you have realistic expectations of these items and not expect them to be “like new” or pristine unless specifically described as such when listed.
We generally e-mail an invoice detailing total charges including any applicable postage within 24 hours after listing end. If you prefer to use eBay checkout and pay immediately that's fine too. Additional e-mail will be sent to acknowledge receipt of payment and to notify buyers once items have been shipped. We want you to always know the status of your order.

not
be made nor will returns be accepted for insured items damaged in transit. In such case a claim must be filed with the carrier. We will gladly provide any info or other help needed in that area should the need arise.
