REGENCY PERIOD EMBROIDERED / NEEDLE POINT PEN WIPE, RELIGIOUS THEMED FOLDER. USED TO CLEAN QUILL PENS AND LATER NIBS. 3 1/2 X 3 1/2. PERFECT FOR A LADYS PURSE, DESK ACCESSORY. NEEDLE POINT DESIGN ON FRONT SHOWS A WREATH WRAPPED AROUND A TORCH. SMALL & TIGHT STICHING AROUND THE ENTIRE OUTSIDE EDGE. (T
he torch, as a Christian symbol, signifies witnessing for Christ – “
    Let your light shine.
” The torch, together with a wreath of victory, symbolizes our witness is about the victorious crown of life.) THE BACK COVER HAS FLOWERS AND ANCHOR & WHAT LOOKS LIKE ENIS (Which could be a family name.) (
one of the oldest of all symbols of our Savior is the anchor; it originated in the days of the catacombs.) TURNING FROM THE COVER TO FIRST LEAF YOU WILL FIND THE INSIDE OF THE COVER HAS A COPPER COLOR SILK FACING A FELT-LIKE CLOTH. There is a 1/4 inch spot of the felt-like material on the far right of that page. THEN WE TURN AND SEE IT OPENS TO A SCENE WITH RELIGIOUS SYMBOLISM. THERE ARE 3 MEN AND 4 WOMEN. 4 HAVE SHEEP HERDERS CROOKS, ONE LIES ON THE GROUND. A LAMB SITS AT THE FOOT OF A PERHAPS OLDER FEMALE FIGURE SITTING DOWN. THERE APPEARS TO BE RUINS WHERE THEY SIT. TWO WOMEN KNEELING APPEAR TO BE PRAYING. TO THEIR RIGHT IS A ROUND COLUMN WITH FIRE EMITING SMOKE THAT RISES. TO FAR RIGHT IS A CUPID / ANGEL FIGURE IN THE AIR WITH BOW AND ARROW. THIS AND THE NEXT SILKY SCENE ARE FINELY STICHED TO THE BACK OF THE FELT-LIKE MATERIAL. TURN THE LEAF AND THERE ARE 2 FELT-LIKE MATERIAL PANELS. TURN THE LEAF AGAIN AND THERE IS ANOTHER SILK SCENE STITCHED IN.THIS ONE HAS A SCENE OF ALL MEN, PERHAPS OTTOMAN EMPIRE ca 1820'S. MEN HOLD PIPES ON LEFT, MEN WITH LONG BEARDS SMOKE PIPES ON THE RIGHT. A SMALL PERSON SERVES A BEVERAGE ON A TRAY. COMING TOWARDS A MAN WITH A SWORD ON HIS BELT. NEAR THE CENTERFOLD THERE IS A SMALL 1/4" SPOT OF WHAT LOOKS SIMILAR TO RUST. AND A LIGHT STAIN LOWER RIGHT CORNER. TURN THE PAGE AGAIN TO FELT AND SILK INSIDE BACK COVER. TWO TINY STITCHES HELD THE FELT AND SCENES TO THE COVER. THEY ARE MISSING, AN EASY FIX. ALSO INSIDE COVER AND BACK COVER THERE IS SOME EXTRA SILK THAT LOOKS LIKE IT MAY HAVE HAD SORT OF A STRIP TO LATCH IT CLOSED.
