We carry a large selection of US and world coins and currency in our inventory and are pleased to offer this attractive Egyptian coin from a collection assembled over 50 years ago. The coin shown is an 1886 1/20 qirsh from the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II. It was struck at the Berlin Mint, though no markings on the coin indicate the origin. The obverse bears the toughra, or signature of the sultan, with the year of the reign  written below, in this case the year 12.  A flower design is to the right of the toughra. The reverse carries the text 'minted in Misr'. The denomination 1/20 qirsh is in written form,
nisf 'ushr qirsh with AH 1293,
the ascension of year of Sultan Abdul Hamid II. The date of the coin translates to 1886 AD.
