Details
Description:
A great looking beautifully toned very fine or much better (possibly about extremely fine) copper-nickel coin from Egypt. This is a one qirsh coin from the reign of Abdul Hamid II the Ottoman Sultan. The coin shows the sultan's toughra with a rose to the right and above the toughra. The coin also shows the denomination below the toughra with a floral and foliate design along the border. The reverse says Duribah Fi Misr (struck in Egypt) Abdul Hamid accession year of 1293 AH below it and the number 23 for the 23rd year of Abdul Hamid II's reign over the letter "Beh" on top. The reverse also displays 17 stars along the border surrounding the inscription. The coin is KM 299 measuring approximately 23 mm in diameter and weighing ~5.4 grams. The coin has a plain rim. This is a rare coin in this grade being of such low denomination, which was heavily circulated and abused. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Misr, or al Fustat on the outskirts of Cairo the current capital of Egypt.
Size and weight:
This is a one Qirsh and is ~23 mm in diameter and weighs ~5.4 grams.

It is KM #299.
Condition:
For international buyers, please note that on January 20, 2018 the new US postal rates for overseas shipping went into effect for first class shipments, which we are unable to change. Additional charges will be incurred depending on the value of the item. I would grade this coin as a nicely toned very fine or much better with all the details being well preserved. The coin has great eye appeal. The coin has scratches, some bag marks and some minor dings to the rim. It is much better than the photos suggest. It has wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. A beautiful coin to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
