Ava Maria Grotto Cullman Al. Alabama Clay. Condition is Used. No chips or cracksCup is made from Alabama Clay which is mostly red . The red color is due to oxidized iron. The clay itself is the product of the weathering of volcanic rocks. Water reacts with feldspar in granite, and one of the products is clay. This cup has no Pottery mark which leads me to believe it was probably made by one of the monks at St Bernard Abbey in Cullman.
