    Description

This rare Afghan Civic Copper coin from Ghaznayn features the Union Jack C'mark, making it a unique addition to any collection. Minted in 1047, this coin bears the denomination of 1 falus and is composed of 0.99999 fineness copper. It has circulated in the past but remains in excellent condition.
The balkh variety of this coin is highly sought after by collectors of world coins, particularly those with an interest in Middle Eastern numismatics. This coin is uncertified but its grade remains ungraded. Don't miss the chance to add this piece of Afghan history to your collection.
The Battle of Ghazni took place in the city of Ghazni in central Afghanistan on Tuesday, July 23, 1839, during the First Anglo-Afghan War. The battle resulted in English victory. This civic coin has been C marked with “Ghanznayn” on one side and an impression which resembles the Union Jack (English flag) on the other side. Perhaps it was countermarked upon occupation of the city of Ghazni by the English. If so, it would be one of the earliest English C’marks on Afghan Civic coinage.
