Design Description:
This kits includes what they call a "2nd design" standard size (14mm O.D.) Double Lip seal.
The Double Lip Seal has an added Rubber Lip to aid in sealing with the Teflon Lip.
The Double lip seal is considered an upgrade to the "1st design" Teflon Single Lip Seal.
**Some HT6 and HU6 compressor use a "3rd design" FAT SHAFT (17mm O.D.) Double Lip Seal.
Both 2nd and 3rd design seals have a Teflon lip and a rubber lip.
Most newer model compressors on newer vehicles now have "Triple Lip" seals.
A6 Compressors and 2 Piece "early model" R4 compressors -
Read below:
This seal kit as well as the single lip seal kit
can
be used in A6 compressors and in early model R4 compressors replacing the regular 2 piece type carbon seal. If using this seal in an A6 compressor or an EARLY Model R4 with a 2 piece seal, this seal would then replace the "ceramic seat" or "metal seat". This would upgrade the old style original carbon seal to the new style "Teflon" lip seal used in todays a/c compressors.
Carbon shaft seals are more leak prone and have a higher leakage rate as compared to Teflon single and double lip seals.
The A6 compressors and the 2 piece "early model" R4 compressors ceramic seat is the same size and dimensions of this 14mm single lip seal
and
the 14mm double lip seal.
TIP:
***The white felt wiper/wicks are an option to install. Many compressors don't have them installed. If you want to use the felt wiper/wick you select and use the one that fits best between the shaft seal and the clutch hub. Don't use BOTH felts. The felt wiper/wick goes on top of the seal on the outside of the compressor. You install the felt after you install the shaft seal and before you install the clutch hub. The felt is used to wick, stop, and hide a/c oil seepage  from the shaft seal area so it is not seen.  The slight seepage is a normal occurrence over time.***
IT HELPS TO PRECONDITION THE SEAL FIRST BEFORE INSTALLING IT.

if you are to install a seal without damaging the new seal.
Without the tool

to install it?
Teflon seals are not like rubber seals. Teflon seal are actually manufactured with a
smaller inside diameter
than the
actual compressor shaft
.  That is why you

use this tool to properly install the new seal.
