WARRANTY
Most compressor failures are the effect of another problem in the A/C system and replacing the compressor only will not fix the problem. This will only cause the compressor to fail again. Other components need to be replaced (Drier/Condenser combo, drier, accumulator, expansion valve or orifice tube, and in extreme failures hoses and condensers must also be replaced) we recommend using our complete A/C kits. This is the best way to get the mandatory parts you need to do the job, as well as best value for your money.
Mobile Climate Parts offers a 12 month limited warranty on remanufactured and new compressors, and a 90 day warranty on used compressors.
In order to qualify for the warranty, the "Compressor Installation Instructions" below MUST be followed by a certified A/C technician. Otherwise, the warranty shall be void. Proof of installation by a certified A/C technician must be provided by the purchaser (eBay customer) for the warranty to apply.
In addition, the following shall render the warranty VOID:
• The compressor is returned locked up or contaminated with any foreign debris, metal shavings, or black oil.
• Altering the compressor in any way.
• Any physical damage to the compressor.( broken mount, pulley or bearing damage, burned coil assembly)
• Failure to replace drier, accumulator, condenser containing drier, orifice, or expansion valve as stated by warranty.
The warranty only covers the replacement of the compressor. The warranty does not cover the cost of labor, removal, installation, or any diagnostic costs.
COMPRESSOR INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
We recommend taking your vehicle to a certified ac repairs shop!!!
Please read these instructions prior to any repairs on your vehicle.
Follow all federal, state, and local regulations when repairing an automotive A/C system.
Take appropriate safety precautions –
1. Wear eye protection (safety glasses).
2. Do not smoke next to the vehicle when performing repairs.
3. Work in a well-ventilated area.
4. Wear skin protection (such as gloves and closed toe shoes).
5. Recover refrigerant before making repairs.
REMOVING THE OLD COMPRESSOR
1. Open the hood of the vehicle and locate the A/C Compressor.
2. Remove the A/C belt from the A/C Compressor pulley. This may involve loosening the belt tensioner (if it is equipped).
3. Evacuate the A/C system using a refrigerant recovery machine. (EPA Requirement)
4. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
5. Remove the bolt that secures refrigerant lines to the A/C Compressor. Then, inspect the A/C lines for any contamination such as metal or excessive dirt inside them. If any contamination is found, the system will need to be cleaned.
6. Disconnect any electrical connectors from the A/C Compressor.
7. Remove the AC Connections. Remove the A/C Compressor mounting bolts.
8. Remove the A/C Compressor from the vehicle.
INSTALLING THE NEW, REMANUFACTURED, or USED A/C COMPRESSOR
Unhook the negative battery terminal!!!
1. Once the old compressor has been removed, begin by removing the receiver/drier or accumulator, and the expansion valve or orifice tube from the vehicle.
2. Next, flush the evaporator and all hoses using a solvent based A/C flush. The valve/orifice must be removed on the expansion valve/orifice system before the evaporator can be flushed. Condensers cannot be flushed and must be replaced.
• Flush evaporators from inlet to outlet.
• Flush condensers from outlet to inlet.
NOTE: Condensers on vehicles produced after 1989 – present cannot be flushed. As a result, if the compressor had a major failure or the system is contaminated with black oil, metal shavings, or debris the condenser must be replaced. Any hose containing a muffler(small canister) must be replaced.
3. Check to see if the correct amount of oil is in the compressor. If oil is needed, add the correct amount. Our reman and used compressors contain 3 ounces of oil kits contain 6-8 ounces. Check label on new compressor for oil amount.
4. Install the new receiver drier or accumulator, and new expansion valve or orifice tube.
5. Next, install the new, remanufactured, or used A/C Compressor.
6. Install and tighten the A/C Compressor mounting bolts.
7. Reconnect any electrical connectors to the A/C Compressor.
8. Re-install the refrigerant lines and A/C belt to the A/C Compressor.
9. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
10. Evacuate the A/C system with an A/C servicing machine for at least one hour.
11. Check the system for leaks.
12. If there are no leaks, install the refrigerant charge on the high side only with the engine off using a recharge/ recovery machine- do not use cans or 30lb cylinder (Check the A/C system sticker under the hood of the vehicle for the proper amount and type of refrigerant for the system). Then, let the system set for 2 minutes. Doing so will allow the refrigerant to carry the oil and spread more evenly throughout the system.
13. Start the vehicle’s engine and turn on the A/C system.
FAQ
Q. Does the compressor come with oil?
A. Our used and re-manufactured compressors come with 3 ounces of OEM PAG oil. If you purchase a kit both used and re-manufactured compressors contain 6- 8 ounces in the compressor. Please check and make sure the compressor has enough oil before installation. Most rear ac SUV style vehicles require 10 ounces of oil.
Q. How many miles are on the vehicle your used compressor was removed from?
A. We are a compressor re-manufacturer and not a salvage yard. Our compressors are opened checked and for wear or damage. We then replace the shaft seal and case o-rings. We test all compressors to insure proper operation and they are cleaned prior to shipping. Unlike other sellers on Ebay you will not receive and old dirty, rusty, oily part if you purchase a used compressor from us.
Q. Should I just replace the compressor by itself?
A. No! The original compressor failure in 99% of all cases is the effect of another cause. If you do not replace the component or part (drier/accumulator, expansion valve/orifice tube, condenser/drier combo, any hoses containing mufflers, fan/fan clutch) that caused the problem, the replacement compressor will fail as well.
Q. What does charging on the high side mean and why do you require it?
A. Most of the new compressors are variable displacement, which means they pump more or less refrigerant based on the refrigerant demand returning to the compressor on the suction (low) side of the system. When the compressor gets too much refrigerant or the temperature of the refrigerant is too cold the compressor pumps less or completely stops pumping because it thinks the system is cold enough. The only way to charge with a can or 30lb cylinder is through the suction (low) side. This will cause the compressor to stop pumping and result in a defective part voiding our warranty. Keep in mind when the car is on the assembly line they do not start the car and suck in the refrigerant. They charge the system using a refrigerant re-charge machine and force a complete charge into the high side of the system with the engine off. We require this method be used on all of the compressors we sell. We understand that most of the customers that purchase our compressors do not have this type of equipment so this is why we suggest taking your vehicle to a certified ac repair facility. (NEVER CHARGE AN AC SYSTEM THROUGH THE HIGH SIDE WITH A CAN OR 30 LB CYLINDER)
Q. What are you hours of operation?
A. We are open Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm Eastern Standard time.
Q. Does the compressor come with the clutch and pulley?
A. Yes, all of our compressors come complete with the clutch and pulley unless otherwise advertised.
Q. How long does shipping take?
A. Shipping usually takes anywhere from 1 to 4 business days. We have a 2 business day handling time. If you purchase an item after our daily pickup time 12 pm Eastern then the 2 business day handling time starts the following day. The amount of time it takes for the compressor to reach your destination depends on your location and the carrier chosen at purchase. Our Standard Shipping method is USPS flat rate expedited 2 to 3 day.
Q. Do you accept returns?
A. Yes, we accept returns within 30 days of purchase on all unused items. Any product you return must be in the same condition you received it and in the original packaging. A return authorization number (RMA #) is required from Mobile Climate Parts prior to returning any merchandise. Your request to return these parts must be received by us within 30 days from the date of purchase. The purchaser is responsible for shipping charges to return all parts. A 20% restocking fee is charged and the original shipping costs are not refundable.
