Description:
A great looking mint state 64 red-brown bronze coin from Egypt. This is the one-fortieth qirsh (or 1/40 of piastre) from the reign of the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II. The coin shows the sultan's tughra, two roses to the right of the tughra, the number 12 for the 12th year of Abdul Hamid's reign below it on the obverse (making it 1886 AD). The reverse says Duribah Fi Misr (struck in Egypt) then the word Rub'a Min 'Ashr al Qirsh (quarter of a tenth of a qirsh) with Abdul Hamid's accession year of 1293 AH below it and stars on both sides. It is KM-287 measuring approximately 17 mm in diameter and weighing ~2 grams. The coin has a plain rim. Coins of such small denomination and small size are usually hard to come by in mint state grade, let alone MS64. They normally were used extensively by the people and were lost or severely abused. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Condition:
The coin is graded by ANACS as Mint State 64 RB (red-brown) and comes in a slab so labeled. The coin has a nice reddish-brown color with all its details being extremely well preserved. The coin has a nice patina with residual mint luster and great eye appeal. It has a few bag marks and is much better than the photos shows. It has no wear commensurate with its uncirculated mint state status. The coin has excellent eye appeal and is beautiful. Please see photo for additional condition information.
